Her actions fulfilled the prophecy that the victory would ultimately come through a woman, and she is praised in the Song of Deborah with the words, "Blessed above women shall Yael be." (Judges 5:24, Mechon-Mamre).

Zemach chooses not to depict the dramatic details of the encounter. Instead, he focuses on Yael herself. Seated confidently within the shelter of the tent, she becomes a symbol of quiet strength and unwavering resolve.
