Binyamin Basteker, “Kotel”

Kotel is not a literal depiction of the Western Wall, but rather an emotional and spiritual experience of one of Jerusalem’s most sacred and enduring places. Working in his distinctive abstract expressionist style, Basteker invites the viewer to engage not only with the physical presence of the Wall, but also with its accumulated history, memory, and spiritual resonance.

Through layers of color, texture, and rhythmic mark-making, the stones seem to come alive. They speak without words, as though they have absorbed generations of prayers, hopes, and longings and now echo them back to those who stand before them. The Wall itself dissolves into a luminous tapestry of memory and devotion, becoming less an architectural structure and more a living repository of faith, longing, and remembrance.
