A Unique Experience of the Kotel

Curator’s text

In Binyamin Basteker’s paintings, the Kotel is more than an ancient wall. It is a place of encounter: between people and history, private reflection and communal life, enduring stone and the changing rhythms of Jerusalem.

Through expressive colour and gesture, Basteker invites us to experience the Wall as both a physical presence and a bearer of memory. Scenes of prayer and celebration suggest the many lives and traditions that gather around it. Other works extend the conversation into the streets of Jerusalem, moments of belonging and the joy of a wedding.

Stones that Speak brings together original paintings and a separate selection of museum-quality reproductions. Visitors are invited to move through the virtual gallery at their own pace, pause before individual works and follow their links for further details.

Presented by Rosenbach Contemporary, this exhibition opens a series devoted to contemporary Israeli artists, featuring both artists represented by the gallery and invited guest artists. Each exhibition will offer a distinct perspective and a new way to experience art, wherever you are.
