I Will Cover You with My Hand<\/strong> draws its title from Hashem’s words to Moshe: “I will cover you with My hand until I have passed by”<\/em> (Exodus 33:22). A tallit is draped over an unseen figure, while a small chair rests upon a simple table beside it. The absence of a visible person transforms the composition into a profound meditation on the hidden nature of Divine protection. Through restraint and quiet symbolism, Chani Cohen Zada invites viewers to contemplate the mystery of Hashem’s presence\u2014often unseen, yet always near.<\/p>\n

The title recalls one of the Torah’s most profound moments. After the sin of the Golden Calf, Moshe asks to behold Hashem’s glory. In response, Hashem explains that no human being can fully perceive the Divine presence, saying, “I will cover you with My hand until I have passed by.”<\/em> The verse expresses both concealment and protection: what remains hidden is not distant, but lovingly shielded.<\/p>\n

Cohen Zada approaches this profound idea through symbolic still life rather than literal illustration. The tallit, normally worn by a worshipper, hangs over an unseen presence. Its empty form suggests both human absence and Divine nearness, inviting viewers to consider what cannot be seen but can nevertheless be deeply experienced.<\/p>\n

The small chair resting upon the table introduces another layer of meaning. Throughout the artist’s work, chairs frequently symbolize presence, memory, and relationship.
