Shani’s work instills a familiarity with the subject which enables the viewer to think that he knows this landscape. Perhaps he walked there; perhaps just in passing. The artist wishes to create a sense of silence an almost partnership with the viewer observing the works. Shani’s paintings are not just an attempt to capture a particular scene. The artist presents the special feelings inherent to Israelis and the Israeli landscape. The completed work is easily recognizable as being uniquely Israel.
